By train, car, plane, boat or bus
Spending the Summer holidays together with our pets is possible, but it is important to be aware of the problems our pets can face when we are leaving. They have indeed to deal with a new situation, different from the usual one. For this reason, the owner has to find the best way to calm them down in order to save them from stress. Spending hours in a crate, being carsick and ending up in a completely new setting is not so easy for our pets. If our pet is particularly nervous, you should consult the vet and ask for a mild tranquilizer or specific medicines to relieve the symptoms of a possible disease.

There are also some effective stratagems: providing your cat or dog a piece of clothing and placing one of its favourite toys or a blanket inside its own carrier, will provide reassuring olfactory references for the pet.

TRAVELLING BY BOAT

Animals are generally allowed on ships, usally on payment of a ticket. Transport conditions vary depening on the shipping line.
If transport takes place on deck, you should look for a shady area where you can place your pet and shelter it from sunstrokes.
It is important to walk your furry friend and to provide it with food and above all, water. Make sure that it does not make dirty.
When you are on the dock before boarding, you have to keep your pet in a fresh place. It is also important to walk it, if possible.
If your friend travels in the hold, do go and pay a visit often and try to reduce the unease due to staying in a box. Take care of it and provide it with enough food and water .

Below, you will find a list of the shipping lines and their regulations about pet transport:
