The project
www.turistia4zampe.it is a portal that gathers together the details of thousands of bars, restaurants, pizza parlours, fast foods, hotels, apartments, camping sites, country resorts, holiday villages and beaches where animals are admitted. It was strongly desired by the Minister of Tourism, Hon. Michela Vittoria Brambilla, and it was completed with the help of the Undersecretary of State for Labour, Health and Social Affairs, Hon. Francesca Martini. Partners in the initiative are Federturismo, Confturismo and Assoturismo, as well as many other tourist facilities that chose to join.

The campaign is devoted to improve the competitiveness of tourism in our Country, bearing in mind that one family out of three owns a pet and needs information on how to organise their holidays.

guida_cgAnother goal is to fight the shameful abandonment of animals that is still a widespread phenomenon throughout Italy, involving more than 750,000 animals every year. Abandoning animals is a crime in Italy, punishable with up to 1 year imprisonment.

It also provides a number of useful suggestions and indications: such as the items that shouldn't be missing in a suitcase for our four-legged companions, as well as the rules governing the transport of animals by train, car, plain, ship or bus. It is a website that can be read like a guide by anyone planning to go on holiday with his/her pet.

The first version of the guide, titled "I'm finally allowed in!" (see picture), was published in paper in 2005, on the initiative of Michela Vittoria Brambilla, who was the National President of the Young Businessmen of Confcommercio at the time.

This portal is a broader version of the previous guide, which is now constantly updated thanks to the owners of public services that register on a daily basis, and thanks to the comments, suggestions and opinions sent by the citizens.
